"My heart believes but sometimes my head is confused."
These are the words Anthony proclaimed last week as I was walking out his bedroom door.
"You mean about God?"
"Yes, Mommy, I have many questions."
I felt the prompting of the Holy Spirit to step back, take a moment and not push. He only just first heard about God a little over a year ago so I breathed a prayer and said,
"Since it is so late and way past your bed time, and knowing Daddy will want to be a part of our discussion, let's talk tomorrow night at bedtime."
"That sounds like a good plan, Mommy." His little voice sounded stressed and tired.
My sweet boy. The Holy Spirit is working in His life but he is struggling with understanding what it means to believe in someone you can't physically see (faith) and with the realization that God truly forgives all your sins because of the blood of Christ.
So we spent the next day praying, and that evening, we sat down with him.
I went through the Romans Road.
"For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God."
"For the wages of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord." (Romans 6:23, NIV)
"But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us." (Romans 5:8, NIV)
"If you declare with your mouth that 'Jesus is Lord', and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, then you will be saved."
"For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord."
He is contemplating things that many struggle with as they seek God. He told us he did many bad things in China, even more than here. He says his heart believes but his head sometimes doesn't believe or understand.
We answered the questions he had and told him he could ask us anything. We also told him to talk to God and ask Him to reveal Himself.
Please join us in praying for our precious boy. He is seeking, searching and desiring. The Holy Spirit is working in His Time, not ours.
