A Boy From China's First Fourth of July!

So yesterday was a day of firsts.

Not just for Anthony but for Grace as well.

It was Anthony's first fourth of July.

Grace and Anthony's first movie at a theater (thanks to Papa and Mimi).

And Grace's first time watching fireworks.

I love watching them experience things for the first time. It brings such joy to my heart to see their joy and excitement. What a great reminder of what life was like before we let the busyness and burdens of life weigh us down. Or better yet, a reminder of what life in Christ should be like! His desire is for us to long to be with Him above all else and to take our burdens and fears and carry them for us so we can experience the life He intended for us. But what do we do? We get so busy that we don't have time for Him anymore or we are so caught up in our own problems that we forget about Him.

"Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God." (Hebrews 12:1-2).

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” (Matthew 11:28-30).

Fun with friends at the Zoo!
