As I was driving Anthony to Chinese Church tonight, the thought suddenly struck me that I had not written my Friday Adoption Adventures for today. I chastised myself and started racking my brain about what to write. I ended up thinking, "I just don't know what to write about today, God. Oh, well."
Then, as we were driving home I had the most amazing conversation with Anthony that continued with Adam upon our arrival at home. I now know why God had yet to inspire me. He had something amazing waiting for me to share with you on this late Friday evening.
Anthony learned about Jesus' prayer in the Garden of Gethsemane tonight. This naturally sparked numerous questions in the mind of our bright 8 year old boy who only just learned of Jesus and God a few month ago. Questions that can be somewhat difficult answer given the language barrier but amazing wonderful questions that stem only from the work of the Holy Spirit.
Here are some of the questions he asked in his broken English.
Why did Jesus have to die?
We only die once?
Jesus came back to life?!!
Where is Jesus now?
I want to be in Heaven with God!
We did our best to answer these questions using the translator, his Chinese Bible and the Holy Spirit.
You see where this is going?
WE GOT TO SHARE THE GOSPEL WITH OUR PRECIOUS BOY FOR THE FIRST TIME!!!!
I can't even begin to express the feelings of awe and amazement I am experiencing right now with tears in my eyes as I thank our living God. He is working in the heart of our precious boy.
I keep thinking that just six month ago, this is the boy who thought the cross on our wall was sword and told me that in China God is not real. Now, he is asking us questions about God and Jesus, recording songs from my favorite Christian artists on his camera so he can listen to them over and over, and wearing his Jesus necklace everywhere he goes.
For the word of the Lord is right and true;
He is faithful in all He does.
The Lord loves righteousness and justice.
The earth is full of His unfailing love. (Ps. 33:4-5)
Please pray for wisdom for us and that we would be the mouthpieces of God to our son and for his continued journey to salvation!
