Friday Adoption Adventures 2013 Ultimate Blog Party!! #UBP13

Ultimate Blog Party 2013

I recently learned about this super fun event hosted yearly by 5 minutes for mom to connect with other bloggers covering all kinds of topics! This is a great way to find new blogs to follow and learn from others so I am joining in the party!!!

For all those new to my site let me tell you a little about myself, so today's Friday Adoption Adventure is a trip down memory lane for me!

My husband and I are from Oklahoma and met because a mutual friend invited all of us to go to Summit Ministries in Colorado so our first meeting was in an airport! We started dating during our senior year of high school and then dated all through college at Texas A&M! WHOOP!! Class of 2000!!! We got married on June 24, 2000, stayed in College Station for two more years for Adam to get his masters and we were off to the Washington, D.C./Baltimore area for about 8 years where I worked for U. S. Senator and Adam got his Ph.D. While in DC, we discovered and struggled with infertility until God led us to ADOPTION!!  Three years ago, we moved to San Antonio where we added our two precious children to our family!

So how long have Adam and I been together? 18 years!!! 5 years dating and 13 married! CRAZY!!! We have experienced a lot as you can imagine!!

After a circuitous path, God directed our heart to waiting children in China.

Meet Grace Lihua!

Our precious baby joined our family on May 8, 2011 at the age of 18 months. The fact that she has deformities of her fingers and toes doesn't stop her for an instant! She is exploding with personality and love! She has had one surgery on her hand with the possibility of another and casting on one of her legs. She is AMAZING!

Meet Anthony Jianyou!

Our awesome 8 year old son joined our family on January 14, 2013! It has been a crazy and inspiring few months as we watch him grow and learn English at a pace even faster than I thought possible. I am homeschooling him and watching him learn and attach to us is a blessing beyond my wildest imagination! He and Grace were brother and sister from the very first moment they met. His crazy and fun personality is the perfect complement to hers! He also has a deformity in one hand and will be having surgery in the fall. He is EXTRAORDINARY!

So what is the purpose of my blog? Well, I have three passions.

1. Faith

"For God so love the world that he sent his one and only Son,
that whoever believes in him
shall not perish but have eternal life." (John 3:16, NIV)

2. Family and Adoption

"A father to the fatherless, a defender of widows, is God in his holy dwelling. God sets the lonely in families . . . "  Psalm 68:5-6a

3. Health and Pilates - I haven't talked much about my health issues, the Paleo diet, or the fact that I am a Pilates instructor, but this is something I am working on putting together and will be added to my blog very soon so STAY TUNED!!!
