If you do anything today, PLEASE watch this 6 minute video about a family who adopted 9 children from all over the world! Get the tissues ready!
This reminded me yet again of the beautiful picture adoption paints of our redemption by our Heavenly Father. Thanks to the precious blood of God's only Son, we are adopted for eternity. We are now co-heirs with Christ and sons and daughters of God. He is OUR FATHER who loves us more than we could ever fathom!
"For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God. The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry, “Abba, Father.” The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children. Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory." (Romans 8:14-17, NIV)
Every time I look at my precious daughter as she laughs, pouts, sleeps or smiles, I am reminded again of the sacrifice God made for me so I that I could be called his daughter. I think about how I long for and envision an amazing future for my daughter and then I think about how much more He has planned for me.
"I want you to love Me, listen to My voice, and hold fast to Me—for I am your life." (Sarah Young, Jesus Today)
Will we seek Him daily and spend time with Him? How would it or how does it feel when your children shun you, ignore you and turn from you? All we want is their love, and our Heavenly Father desires the same from us. Let’s not forgot that this holiday season! Our Father, the Creator of all things, loves us and wants to have a relationship with us!
“This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.” (I John 4:10, NIV)
“See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him. Dear friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made known. But we know that when Christ appears,we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is.” (I John 3:1-2, NIV)
