Just a quick update! Our documents are in China and we are just waiting on our Log In Date and then the Letter Seeking Confirmation. This could take 2-3 months. Please join us in praying for a speedy process so we can bring our boy home!
Now I will speak to the question I'm sure many of you have thought about. How difficult will it be to bring an older child into the home? This is not by any means a decision we made lightly but rather one made after many days on our knees seeking the Lord's guidance and direction. Yes, it will not be an easy thing, but does God always ask us to do the easy thing? He asks us to follow Him wherever He leads, whatever the cost. We do this to bring glory to Him name and make His name great. God has asked us to adopt a young boy and make him a part of our family just as God has adopted us and made us co-heirs with Christ. Will there be difficulties? Absolutely! But God will be with us every step of the way and He has an amazing plan for You You that is far beyond our wildest imagination.
"As we travel the adoption journey and live out the call that God has given us we know that at time the rains will come, the streams will rise and the winds will blow against us and our children. Nevertheless, we know that God is with us in the midst of these challenges and trials, and that He is at work for our good (Romans 8:28). This is why we can, as James 1:2 says, 'consider it pure joy whenever we face trials of many kinds,' because we know that God is not only doing a good work through us, He is doing a good work in us as well." Our wonderful adoption agency, Gladney Center for Adoption, had a two day long seminar that we were required to attend in June for families adopting older children, and we learned some amazing tools that are designed to help prepare us for bringing You You home, how to parent, connect and attach with him and create a safe environment and work with him through difficulties. I have also been going through the Created to Connect Study Guide http://empoweredtoconnect.org/ with some friends and can not recommend it enough coupled with the Connected Child book by Dr. Karyn Purvis. God has surrounded us with tools and resources that will help us on the journey but our real strength and faith is in our beloved God and Savior and we covet your prayers as well!
